Using the Right Equipment during Water Damage Restoration in Sparta is Vital

When water damage strikes your home, we strike back to restore it back to prel-oss condition!

Your Water Damaged Home in Sparta is in Good Hands When SERVPRO is Involved

Water damage can impact mechanical systems and structural components in many ways, and remediation is essential. There are several principles and established techniques that professionals use to mitigate the damage and salvage items, but each situation requires a unique solution. To do the right thing if you experience such events as a Sparta resident, we advise you to seek specialized expertise.

When we are attending to water damage in Sparta, our SERVPRO technicians use detection and monitoring equipment to identify wet areas. After locating such regions, we measure their level of wetness and compare the results to the standard moisture levels. Some of the devices we use to do this job include moisture sensors, moisture meters, and thermo-hygrometers.

If our SERVPRO technicians are trying to detect moisture levels in soft materials, then using a moisture meter is an option. The device's sharp probes penetrate through the content and determine how far the water has traveled. When it detects the presence of water, a beeping sound goes off, and a light blinks. It is a handy tool during the initial stages of the inspection, although, it cannot give us the actual amount of moisture in surfaces.

To find the actual moisture content in a material, our SERVPRO technicians use a moisture meter. We have penetrating and non-penetrating moisture meters. Those with penetration capabilities have probes that do the job, while the nonpenetrating meters have sensors which can provide a reading once we place them on surfaces. We take multiple readings at different layers and then average them before, during and after drying to find out whether the methods are working.

Measuring the relative humidity (RH) and temperature of the in the rooms we are working in is equally important, and we do that using a thermo-hygrometer. When there is a high RH in the area, we can put in place dehumidifiers to absorb the additional moisture.
